and I caused it. I was clipping his nails and got to the final finger and clipped the tip of his finger rather than the nail. The worst part, he whimpered, didn't cry, just whimpered, it was heart wrenching. Then he bled, oh my poor sweet baby. He had to have his first band-aid. The second worst part, John calling it a boo-boo.
There was a little comedy involved. After he got his band-aid he kept staring at his finger and this "thing" on it, and his new inability to bend it. Then, as is usually the case, he stuck his finger in his mouth and got a sour face. Sooo funny.
Attached are pictures of the disfigurement, or just a little larger than a paper cut cut.
please forgive the dirty fingernails
We had a kid, watched another kid for a few months, and now are having a baby for another couple. Isn't this typical for most American families?

What are your plans today?
Such a simple sounding question, but when you are charged with the care of a 3.5 & 7 month old your answer becomes "surviving".
Miss K comes over around 7:15am, needs to nap within an hour which is about the time Brooks is waking. Then there is feeding, an almost 4 month old who refuses to go to sleep easily and a 7 month old breast fed baby who has bottle envy. I'm not going to lie, around 11 I load them in the car for a drive. Usually over to the school where John teaches for lunch, but sometimes we drive to Starbucks, and I sit in the parking lot drinking a much deserved froufrou drink while playing on their wifi.
Yesterday was one of those days where surviving was all I could do. Most days are better than that though, like today. About 20 minutes after arriving, I put Miss K in the Ergo (couldn't live without this), and she went to sleep easily and with only minimal fussing. I thought to myself, this is going to be the best day ever OR they are going to gang up on me later. I am pleased to report that today was the former. Grocery shopped, had lunch with John, fixed dinner, got some artsy pics of the kids taken, and walked to a friends house for a little play date.
Here's hoping that tomorrow is even better. And just for a little proof how well today ended....

My Innargural Post
I've been meaning to do this for a while, or like 6 months, or however you want to define a while.
A little about us, John and I have been married for 4 years, we have a baby, Brooks, 7 months; 3 dogs, Geraldine, Nannette and Pappagano; and a cat, Pixel. We have a zoo, we had a zoo before we had a baby. John is a set designer and professor at a local college. I was laid off a week into my maternity leave and have been looking for a career change since. In the meantime I am watching our neighbor's daughter, Miss K, who will be 4 months next week.
We have cloth diapered Brooks since day 1, in the hospital. He's also breast fed, was exclusively until a few weeks ago when he dive bombed John's dinner plate and we decided to introduce solids. While in my charge Miss K is also cloth diapered, which is actually easier for me.
Days for me are really hectic, trying to get them both to sleep, as well feed them, change them and use the bathroom myself. Normally this leads to hilarity, sometimes multiple levels of hilarity. So, come and explore with me, I'll post pictures as often as possible.
Here's a preview, a little original fluffy butt picture circa July 14, 2010.
